Barcelona is a city that rewards exploration — and no vehicle rewards exploration more than a Ferrari. The wide boulevards of the Eixample, the seafront ring road, the climb into the Collserola hills, and then 30 minutes south on the C-31 with the Mediterranean below: driving a Ferrari in Barcelona gives you access to a version of the city that most visitors never see. At Ultra Lux Ride, every Ferrari in our fleet is available for self-drive hire with delivery to your hotel.
What It's Like to Drive a Ferrari in Barcelona
The First Few Minutes
Our team delivers the car to your hotel and spends 15–20 minutes doing a full handover: every control explained, every driving mode demonstrated, the key behaviours of that specific model explained clearly. Then you pull away from the hotel on your own. The first few minutes in a Ferrari in Barcelona are always the same — a mixture of sensory overload and a growing realisation that the car is more manageable than you expected. The gearbox in auto mode is seamless in traffic. The power delivery in Comfort mode is smooth. The car is loud at idle — much louder than any normal car — but it doesn't demand anything from you until you ask for it.
In the City
Central Barcelona is well-suited to a Ferrari. The Eixample grid — wide streets, clear sightlines, regular intersections — gives you room to breathe. The Passeig de Gràcia is wide enough that the car never feels out of place. The seafront ring road (Ronda Litoral) has 80 km/h sections where second-gear acceleration feels completely different to anything you've experienced in a normal car. The Ferrari generates attention everywhere in the city. Pedestrians pause, motorcyclists position themselves to look, other drivers give you more space. After 20 minutes you stop noticing it.
Out of the City
The C-31 south through Castelldefels and into the Garraf natural park is where the Ferrari changes character. The road rises into the limestone cliffs above the Mediterranean and begins to twist. In Sport mode, the exhaust opens, the gearbox becomes more aggressive, and the car transforms from a comfortable grand tourer into something that demands and rewards your full attention. The hairpins above the sea — with rock wall on one side and a sheer drop on the other — are the moment when most drivers understand why Ferrari exists.
Which Ferrari for Barcelona?
Rental policy
The most practical Ferrari for Barcelona's streets. Retractable hardtop, Comfort mode that smooths out the city's varied surfaces, and 620 hp available when you want it. In the Eixample it's composed and manageable; on the Sitges coastal road it's properly fast. The Portofino M is the best starting point for drivers who haven't driven a Ferrari before.
Rental policy
If you want to drive from the hotel to the Sagrada Família for a mid-morning coffee, then out to Montserrat for lunch, then down to Sitges for the evening — the Roma is the Ferrari for that day. Its grand tourer character means it handles transitions between city, motorway, and mountain without making demands. The most elegant Ferrari in the fleet, and the one most suited to Barcelona's broader geography.
Rental policy
If the point of your day is the driving — specifically the coastal road and the mountain passes — the F8 Tributo is the car. 720 hp, mid-engine layout, carbon ceramic brakes, and active aerodynamics that generate real downforce at speed. This is the car for drivers who want to feel what a modern Ferrari can do on the roads it was designed for. In Barcelona's city streets it's perfectly manageable; on the Garraf hairpins it's in its element.
Rental policy
The 296 GTS is the most complete Ferrari experience currently available: 830 hp hybrid system, retractable hardtop in 14 seconds, electric-only city mode, and the full combustion soundtrack when you want it. Driving the 296 GTS in Barcelona means navigating the Eixample silently in electric mode, opening the roof on the seafront, and then letting the V6 and electric motor combine forces on the coastal road south. Nothing else in our fleet delivers as many different driving experiences in a single day.
Best Places to Drive a Ferrari in Barcelona
Passeig de Gràcia
Barcelona's most famous boulevard. Lined with Gaudí buildings (La Pedrera, Casa Batlló), luxury boutiques, and wide pavements. The driving itself is straightforward — two lanes each direction, 50 km/h limit — but no other road in Barcelona provides the same combination of context and attention. Best in the early morning when traffic is light.
Ronda Litoral (Seafront Ring Road)
The seafront expressway that runs from the Forum in the northeast to the Llobregat airport in the southwest. 80 km/h sections, long straights, and views of the port and the Mediterranean. This is the road where second-gear performance becomes accessible in Barcelona — within legal limits, the power delivery of any Ferrari in our fleet is immediately apparent here.
Carretera de les Aigues (Collserola Hills)
A winding road that climbs through the Collserola natural park behind Barcelona. The gradient and the corners mean it's more technical than anything in the city itself, and the views down over the whole of Barcelona — the Eixample grid, the port, the sea — are extraordinary. Take the road from Pedralbes up through the park. 15 minutes from the Passeig de Gràcia, 40 minutes of mountain driving.
The C-31 Coastal Road South to Sitges
The essential Ferrari Barcelona route. See the routes section above for the full description — suffice to say that this is where every element of a Ferrari's character is accessible within 40 minutes of your hotel. The Garraf section is among the most rewarding public roads in Catalonia.

FAQ — Driving a Ferrari in Barcelona
Is driving a Ferrari in Barcelona difficult?
Less than you might expect. Modern Ferraris — especially the Portofino M and Roma — are designed to be driven in everyday conditions. In Comfort mode with the automatic gearbox, the car is manageable in traffic. The power is there when you want it, controlled when you don't. Our handover covers everything you need to know before you pull away.
What's the best time of day to drive in Barcelona?
Early morning (7:00–9:00 AM) for the city routes — the Eixample and the seafront are quiet and the light is exceptional. Mid-morning to lunchtime for the coastal road to Sitges — traffic on the C-31 is lightest between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM outside summer. Avoid the seafront ring road during the evening rush (5:00–7:00 PM).
Can I drive the Ferrari to the airport for my departure flight?
Yes — we can coordinate collection at El Prat Airport at the end of your hire. Let us know your flight time when booking and we'll arrange timing so you have the car until you need to check in.
Are there parking restrictions for supercars in Barcelona?
Ferraris use the same parking zones as any other vehicle — blue zone (paid) in the centre, green zone for residents' areas. Low-emission zone (ZBE) restrictions apply to older vehicles but not to our current fleet. Our team can advise on the best parking options near your specific hotel and itinerary.
