Catalonia is a driving region that most visitors barely scratch the surface of. They see Barcelona, maybe Sitges, occasionally the Costa Brava. But behind the coastline is a landlocked Catalonia of mountain passes, volcanic landscapes, medieval villages, empty agricultural roads, and scenery that has nothing to do with the tourist circuit. At Ultra Lux Ride, our exotic car rental covers all of it — from the Garrotxa volcanic zone to the Berguedà Pyrenean foothills, to the Penedès wine country — delivered from our Barcelona base.
Why Catalonia is Exceptional Driving Territory
Most drivers who come to Barcelona for a supercar hire default to the same routes: Sitges coastal road, Montserrat, maybe the Costa Brava. All excellent choices. But Catalonia's road network extends far beyond these set pieces — and much of what's further afield is quieter, more challenging, and more rewarding.
The Pyrenean foothills begin within 90 minutes of central Barcelona. The Garrotxa volcanic zone — a protected natural park of ancient craters and beech forests — has roads that are almost empty mid-week. The Pallars Sobirà in the high Pyrenees offers mountain passes above 2,000 metres. None of these require leaving Catalonia.

720 hp, mid-engine, active aerodynamics. The F8 is the best sports car in our fleet for technical mountain roads — its carbon ceramic brakes, precise steering, and rear-wheel drive reward experienced drivers on the Pyrenean passes. On the descent from a Col above 1,500 metres, it's the most involving car we operate.
Rental policy
All-wheel drive and rear-wheel steering make the Huracán EVO stable and accessible on Catalonia's varied road surfaces — from smooth AP-7 motorway to rougher secondary roads in the interior. The V10 sound in the tunnels through the Berguedà is extraordinary. The right car for a full-day interior route.
Rental policy
For interior Catalonia, the Urus Performante's higher ride height is a practical advantage on routes that include occasional rough sections. All the Lamborghini drama, four seats, a proper boot, and the ability to go where a mid-engine sports car would hesitate. The best choice for multi-day Catalan road trips with luggage.
Rental policy
The 911 GTS is the most complete all-day car for Catalonia. Comfortable at speed on the AP-7, engaging on the mountain roads, and composed enough at the end of a long day that you're not exhausted when you arrive. For a full week touring Catalonia's provinces, this is the car most experienced drivers would choose.
Routes: Exotic Car Hire in Catalonia
The Garrotxa Volcanic Zone — 180 km from Barcelona (Full Day)
North from Barcelona on the AP-7 to Girona, then west on the C-66 towards Banyoles and the Garrotxa natural park. The roads through the volcanic landscape — ancient craters covered in beech forest, small villages, stone bridges — are smooth, empty, and beautiful. Santa Pau and Olot are the main towns. The drive from Olot back to Barcelona via the Collada de Bracons mountain road is the highlight: sustained climbing, good surface, minimal traffic. Allow a full day. Total approximately 300 km.
Berguedà and the Pyrenean Foothills — 200 km from Barcelona (Full Day)
Take the C-16 tunnel road north from Barcelona through Berga to Bagà. The C-16 from Berga onwards is a proper mountain road — it gains altitude quickly, passes through tunnels and over bridges above the Llobregat gorge. Bagà sits at the gateway to the Cadi-Moixeró natural park. From here, the road west to La Cerdanya plateau involves a spectacular mountain crossing via the Tunel del Cadí (toll tunnel) or the Collada de Toses (open pass, closed in winter). The Ferrari F8 on the descent from Toses is something else. Return via Ripoll and the C-17. Total: approximately 350 km.
Penedès Wine Country — 120 km from Barcelona (Half Day)
South and west from Barcelona via the AP-7 to Vilafranca del Penedès. From there, the back roads through the Penedès appellation — Subirats, Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, Torrelles de Foix — are quiet, well-surfaced, and pass through vineyard scenery that is genuinely beautiful. The drive can be combined with a visit to a cava producer in Sant Sadurní. Return via Sitges on the C-15 for the coastal road finish. Total: approximately 120 km.
The Costa Daurada and Tarragona — 150 km from Barcelona (Full Day)
South on the AP-7 to Tarragona — Spain's best-preserved Roman city — then the coastal road north through Altafulla, Torredembarra, and Calafell back towards Sitges and Barcelona. The Tarragona Roman amphitheatre, set directly above the Mediterranean, is worth a stop. The coastal road from Tarragona north passes through quieter beach towns than the Costa Brava, with better road surfaces and less traffic. Total: approximately 200 km round trip.
Multi-Day Catalonia Hire
For a thorough exploration of Catalonia — coast, interior, and mountain — a three-day hire works well: Day 1 coastal (Costa Brava or Sitges), Day 2 mountain (Berguedà–Pyrenees), Day 3 interior (Garrotxa or Penedès). We can arrange delivery at the start of your trip and collection at the end, at any address in Catalonia.
FAQ — Exotic Car Rental Catalonia
Can I drive from Barcelona to Andorra in a rented supercar?
Yes. Andorra is approximately 200 km from Barcelona via the C-16 and the Tunnel de Cadí. The drive takes about 2.5 hours and involves genuine mountain roads. Andorra is not part of the EU, so let us know at booking — we'll provide the appropriate cross-border documentation.
Are there toll roads on the routes through Catalonia?
Yes. The AP-7 motorway is tolled in Catalonia (approximately €10–20 depending on distance). Tunnel del Cadí has a toll of approximately €13. Secondary roads have no tolls. We recommend carrying cash or a card for toll payments.
Can I take the car to the Pyrenean ski resorts?
In winter, mountain roads above certain altitudes require snow chains — which our sports cars cannot accommodate. For winter mountain driving, we recommend the Lamborghini Urus Performante with proper winter tyres, which we can arrange on request. Contact us in advance for winter hires above 1,000 metres.
